Nominate Albert Finney for the 2008 Oscar for Lifetime Achievement

London based S&M Cafe’s has launched a petition aiming to honour Albert Finney , the veteran British actor who turns 71 this year. The petition will be submitted to the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Summer 2007 requesting that Mr Finney is considered for a Lifetime Achievement Academy Award.

Mr. Finney has had a long and prestigious film career and has previously been nominated for five Oscars including his leading performances in Tom Jones (1973), Murder on the Orient Express (1974) and, more recently, his supporting role opposite Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich (2000). Despite his commercial and critical success on the big screen he has never won an Oscar, and amongst living actors, holds the most number of nominations without winning an Academy Award of any sort.

S&M Cafes believes that such an esteemed, gifted and successful British actor, whose career has spanned more than 40 years and included so many remarkable performances, should receive the acknowledgement deserved from the most illustrious organisation in motion picture industry, and receive an Honorary Academy Award. It is asking its guests to sign their name to the campaign to start the ball rolling for the 2007 Oscars.
